VM Create Configuration Spec

To be able to use the activity, you need to install VMware PowerCLI on the Resolve Actions Express Executor server.

Activity Description

Creates a Virtual Machine customization specification file that can be used when cloning a Virtual Machine.

Settings

  • Host Name—The host name or IP address. This must be either the vCenter device or the ESXi device (you can configure the device with Platform type vCenter/ESXi under Devices).
  • User Name—The user name of an account that has read/write access to the host.
  • Password—The password of the account listed in the User Name field.
  • Specification Name—The name of the new customization Specification file.
  • Registration section—Defines the Name, Organization, and the Computer Name.
    • Use VM name as the computer name—Select to use the VM name as the computer name.
  • License section —Defines the licensing method.
    • Product Key—The license product key.
    • Include server licensing information (Per seat/Per Server)—Select to include information about the server licensing.
    • Maximum Connections—If Per Server is selected, input the maximum number of connections.
  • Administrator Password section—Defines the Administrator's credentials for accessing the machine.
    • Automatically log on as Administrator—Select to automatically log on as Administrator.
    • Number of times to log on automatically—If Automatically log on as Administrator is selected, type the number of times to log on automatically.
  • Run Once > Run command after boot—Defines the command to run upon the machine's boot.
  • IP Address—Defines the IP address details.
    • Use DHCP—Select to use DHCP IP settings.
    • Use the following IP settings—Select to use custom IP settings (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and Alternate Gateway).
  • DNS Server section—Defines the DNS server details.
    • Use DHCP—If required, the password of the account listed in the User Name field.
    • Use the following IP settings—Select to use custom IP settings (Default DNS Server and Secondary DNS Server).
  • Domain section—Defines the domain and workgroup to which the machine belongs.
    • Workgroup—Select to use the workgroup of the domain (for example, "Administrators").
    • Windows Server Domain—Select to use the Windows server domain (instead of the workgroup).
  • OS Options > Generate new Security Id—Select to generate a new Security ID.
